2013 AEROS Scholars

Colin Adamson

Colin Adamson

Colin Adamson is a senior Aerospace Engineering student at the University of Maryland. He is a member of the Gemstone Team RIO, a combined design and psychology project intended to help reduce information overload on college students by developing a better email client. He has worked in the Alfred Gessow Rotorcraft Lab designing and machining parts for experimental rotor blades and . This summer he will be working with Dr. Inderjit Chopra in the Alfred Gessow Rotorcraft Lab researching motor scalability for rotor flaps.

Jeremy Garber

Jeremy Garber

Jeremy Garber is a senior Aerospace Engineering Honors student as well as a Clark School Engineering Honors student. Moreover, he is the current president of Sigma Gamma Tau, the National Honors Society in Aerospace Engineering. This past summer Jeremy worked with Dr. Benedict and Dr. Chopra to design and build a 70-gram cyclocopter. This summer Jeremy will again be working with Dr. Benedict and Dr. Chopra, but this time to design and build a vertical wind axis turbine.

Adam Knott

Adam Knott

Adam Knott, is a senior Aerospace Engineering honors student. He is a member of The National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Alpha Lambda Delta, and Phi Eta Sigma. He will be working with Dr. Cadou in the Jet Propulsion Laboratory researching the power curve of gas turbine engines.

Teddy Levine

Teddy Levine

Edward (Teddy) Levine is a senior Aerospace Engineering honors student minoring in Physics. He is a member of AIAA and the Tau Beta Pi professional engineering society. He is also a Clark School of Engineering Ambassador who educates prospective high school students about engineering. Teddy will be working with Dr. Cadou and NASA researching the use of a focused Schlieren system to measure film cooling properties in supersonic flow.

Michael Madden

Michael Madden

Michael Madden is a senior Aerospace Engineering student at the University of Maryland. He is a member of the Department of Aerospace Engineering honors program. Michael’s areas of interest include aerodynamics and flow visualization. His passion for aerospace began the first time he saw a video of a flow visualization test being performed on an airfoil in a wind tunnel. Michael will be working with Dr. Anya Jones in the Low Reynolds Number Aerodynamics Laboratory. His research is on tidal turbines, specifically looking at how different types of sediment move along the sea bed in the wake of a turbine.

Oliver Ortiz

Oliver Ortiz

Oliver Ortiz, is a senior Aerospace Honors student. He is a member of Sigma Gamma Tau and the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers. He will be working with Dr. Raymond Sedwick in the Space Power and Propulsion Lab developing controls for a six-legged pneumatic rover.

Richard Young

Richard Young

Richard Young, is a senior Aerospace Engineering honors student and University honors student. He currently serves as Vice President of Delta Sigma Phi and plays golf for the university's club team. He will be working with Dr. Wereley in the CORE Laboratory researching and fabricating pneumatic artificial muscles.
